Light Bulb Arts is an exciting social enterprise idea, exploring what is possible in the field of visual arts when artists and participants create, work and learn together.
We deliver a range of art classes in Edinburgh, based on sound experience in education and community settings, seeing art as an enjoyable, purposeful form of visual communication.
Developing a fresh approach to mark-making, construction and problem-solving enables art activities to be accessed by everyone including those with learning disabilities and conditions affecting memory and communication, such as autism and dementia.
Adapting a clear, patient style of delivery, alongside innovative ways of using tools and materials, Light Bulb Arts offers a welcoming, positive model for the future of creative thinking.
In our workshops, people come first.
Sessions are flexible, meaningful and fun.
We see art as a visual voice.
Individual ways of working are valued.
We know this approach works.
Everyone has something to gain from multi-sensory art experiences, whatever their ability or stage in life.
We work alongside participants, support staff and organisations to make a real difference.
Our activities are designed to encourage independence and creative ways of working.
Sharing and developing ideas with facilitators is an important part of this.
The resulting artwork shows families and decision makers what is possible.
Exhibiting this innovative work in the wider community challenges perceptions and inspires sustainable change.
A more inclusive art world is exciting for us all!
Light Bulb Arts is based in Edinburgh and we can travel to venues across the city.
Talks and projects in other locations can be arranged.
